From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
